23 Feb It’s a Boilerhouse skeleton – remediation update
– written by Dr Kirsti Abbott
Emerging on the hill is the steel and concrete skeleton of an architectural marvel – the bare bones upon which the future Boilerhouse Discovery Space will be built. In recent weeks the cladding and windows have been stripped from the strikingly straight lines of the steel frame. The gaps offer a wonderful view through the building as well as emphasising the geometric focus of the design, which won an Architecture Australia award in 1975.
It is expected that the entire remediation process will be completed in the next 6-8 weeks, so keep an eye on progress, and imagine the future of STEAM education and discovery at UNE.
